Besides being a great gaming console, the Wii is also a great device for watching Netflix. Through a simple little trick, you can now, with your current Netflix account, watch Netflix from other regions than just the UK. These include American Netflix, and Netflix from Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Ireland, Holland, Finland, Sweden, Norway, and Denmark.
I’m using a service called Unlocator to do the unblocking of Netflix. For those of you who would like a quick set up guide right away, just follow the simple tutorial below.
Quick Step Guide
- Creating a free Unlocator account
- Then follow the setup guide for the Wii
- Restart the Wii
- Install the Netflix app from The Wii Shop Channel
- Open the Netflix app and login with your new Netflix account info and you can start streaming.

How Does Unlocator Make US Netflix and other Regions Work on the Wii in the UK?
As you know by now, Netflix is only available in selected regions around the world. The Netflix servers will detect that you are located in the UK when you are interacting with Netflix. Netflix does this by analyzing the origin country of the data request. Unlocator steps in between Netflix and your Wii and hides the origin of this data.
As default, Unlocator will make Netflix think you are located in the US, but you can switch to any other Netflix region. To change between the regions, go to account home on your Unlocator account and thereafter into “channel settings”. Don’t forget to restart your device after the region change. Now you can watch Netflix content from other countries, such as the US.
Best of all – your Internet speed remains the same, as Unlocator is essentially a DNS service and it won’t slow down your connection speed. It really is a “set and forget” product that makes your life a lot easier.
Can I keep my UK Netflix Account?
Absolutely! Your UK Netflix account remains the same. The only difference will be that you can switch between the different Netflix regions. This, in fact, gives you all the content that Netflix provides in ALL their regions.
